Adoption Information

Adopting A Pet

The City of Cuero offers a Pet Adoption Program in the amount of $40 for cats and dogs. The animal may or may not be neutered, vaccinated or wormed. It is the responsibility of the new owner to properly vaccinate the animal and provide the Animal Control Officer proof of vaccination from a licensed vet within five days of adoption.

All dogs and cats impounded at the city animal shelter shall be provided with proper and sufficient food and water by the Animal Control Officer for a period of at least 5 days. If any dog, cat or pet impounded by the Animal Control Officer shall not have been redeemed within the five-day period and cannot be adopted out within a reasonable time period, it shall be disposed of by the Animal Control Officer in a humane way. Most cats and dogs that are not adopted within a reasonable amount of time are taken in by Pet Adoptions of Cuero, Inc.
