ELECTIONS
The Regular City Election shall be held the second Saturday in May
of each year for the purpose of electing, according to the law,
the following officers of said City:
- Councilmembers for single-member Districts Nos. One (1) and Four (4), and
the two at-large Councilmembers shall be elected in odd numbered years.
- Councilmembers for single-member Districts Nos. Two (2) and Three (3), and
the Mayor shall be elected in even numbered years.
Each Member shall hold office for two years and/or until his successor
is elected and qualified.
QUALIFICATIONS
Each member of the City Council, in addition to having other qualifications
prescribed by law:
- Shall be a qualified voter of the City.
- Shall have resided for a least one year
preceding his election within the
corporate limits of Cuero; or shall
have been a resident for a period of
not less than one year immediately
preceding his election, of any
territory not formerly within the
corporate limits of said City, but
which is annexed.
- Shall not be in arrears in the payment of
any taxes or other liabilities due to
the City. (Not enforceable under the
Voting Rights Act.)
- Shall not hold any other office or
employment under the City Government
while he is a member of said Council.
- Shall not be an officer or director of any
public service corporation within the
City, or without the City but serving
inhabitants of the City, nor shall he
be the owner or proprietor of any
public service corporation in the
City.
